Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 June 2026
This policy explains what information SomalMed collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Because we help families prepare medical treatment, some of what you share with us is sensitive health information, and we treat it that way.
Who we are
SomalMed prepares and coordinates medically necessary treatment in India for patients from Somalia. We are a coordination service, not a hospital, and we do not practise medicine. You can reach us at hello@somalmed.com or at Bakaaro, Mogadishu.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to help you. That typically includes:
- Contact details you give us, such as your name and phone number.
- Medical information you choose to send, such as referrals, reports, prescriptions, scans, or photos, so we can organise your case and assess the next step.
- Details about the patient and the treatment being considered, including where you are and what you are looking for.
- Basic, anonymous usage data about how this website is used (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
Most of this reaches us when you message us, for example on WhatsApp. You decide what to send. Please do not send more than you are comfortable sharing.
How we use your information
- To organise your records into one prepared case file.
- To assess the next step and prepare an indicative cost estimate.
- To coordinate with an accredited hospital, and to arrange travel, stay, and a coordinator if you choose to continue.
- To respond to your questions and keep you informed about your case.
Who we share it with
We share your information only as needed to do the job you have asked us to do, and never sell it. Depending on your case, that may include:
- The NABH-accredited hospital you are matched with, so they can review the case and prepare a written estimate in your name.
- Travel, visa, and accommodation providers, where arranging your journey requires it.
- Service providers who help us run securely, such as our website host.
Because treatment takes place in India, your information may be transferred from Somalia to India and to the providers involved in your care and travel.
Cookies and analytics
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. This does not identify you and is not used for advertising. We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed to help with your case and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations. You can ask us to delete it at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. To make a request, message us or email hello@somalmed.com. We will respond as quickly as we reasonably can.
Children
We often help families arrange care for children. When we do, we rely on a parent or guardian to share the child’s information and to act on their behalf.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service grows. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above. Please check back from time to time.
